I don’t hear this excuse as often as the “I don’t have time” one, but I still hear it once in awhile. I understand that some people live in small apartments with other people and there is not much space for exercise. I don’t think it’s a good excuse not to do it, though. Pic of me in small space…get it?
For all of my home workouts, I used a space that was about 6 feet wide by 8 feet long. That was enough room to get everything I needed to done. I did a lot of it in my living room between my couch and chair and other furniture. So, you can do this too. You don’t need a dedicated workout space. If you have a coffee table, just move it over and put it back when you’re done.
Think about exercising outside. If the weather is nice and you have a yard or a deck or patio area you can use, do it. It’s nice to be outside and there is usually more space there than inside your home.
Think about going to the park to exercise. You see people exercising outside in the park in bigger cities all the time because people don’t tend to have yards there. There’s no reason you can’t do this also. Bring a mat with you or just go on the grass. Many parks also have a walking track around them so you could walk or jog while you’re there.
Go out into nature. There are lots of places around to walk in the woods. I have two state parks within a ten minute drive from me. You can go hiking or if you have a bike, ride your bike.
So, as you can see, not having a lot of space is not really a good reason to not exercise. It’s just an excuse we use to justify the fact that we are not exercising. Don’t let this be you and find a way to get some exercise into your day.
